Job Summary
Manage exceptional children's cases by serving as the primary contact for referrals and issues, ensuring all required components are completed within the 90-day timeline. Coordinate and facilitate initial referrals, reevaluations, and manifestation determination IEP meetings while monitoring progress from eligibility determination through annual reviews. Perform comprehensive data management duties, including entering data, maintaining accurate rosters, and ensuring quarterly progress reports are attached to IEPs and sent home. Collaborate with school psychologists, related service personnel, and administrators to ensure compliance with special education laws and regulations. Act as a liaison to interpret parent rights, mediate concerns, and conduct staff development on procedures and guidelines. Maintain accurate IEP logs and verify all paperwork before closing cases in the CECAS system.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA degree from accredited institution
- License in area of Special Education
- Three or more years experience as an EC teacher (preferred)
- Specialized training in compliance, regulations, and special education law
- Writing and speaking skills
- Understanding of instructional implications of test data
- Exemplary leadership and interpersonal skills
- Exemplary organizational skills
- Computer/typing skills
- Legible copy of official transcripts for all degree levels
- Copy of current NC Teaching License in the EC area (License cannot be Initial or Residency)
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
