Job Summary
Provide academic assistance through group and individualized instruction, demonstrate activities, and correct student work while monitoring behavior in the classroom and other locations. Prepare instructional materials, arrange classroom equipment, and serve as a proctor during testing while maintaining discipline and resolving conflicts. Transport students using a school bus when required, completing pre- and post-trip inspections, adhering to traffic regulations, and ensuring safety at authorized stops. Enter attendance and behavioral data into health records, report progress to teachers, and participate in developing school discipline policies. Obtain and maintain a CDL bus license and possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
Required Qualifications
- College transcript showing a degree was earned
- College transcript showing at least 48 or more college level courses completed
- College transcript showing at least 24 or more college level courses completed plus WorkKeys Assessment with passing scores in Workplace Documents (Reading) score of 4 or better, Business Writing score of 3 or better, and Applied Mathematics score of 4 or better

- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested for purposes of driving a school bus
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
