Assist the teacher with planning, organizing, and evaluating instructional activities while developing classroom procedures and preparing necessary materials. Support the student to increase confidence, self-esteem, and independence by attending to physical and personal care needs, including feeding, hygiene, and transfers. Help the student who has difficulty communicating with others and support participation in social activities throughout the total school program. Maintain confidentiality standards, demonstrate respect for all backgrounds, and conduct yourself as a positive role model for children, parents, and professionals. Participate in staff development and serve as a team player committed to continuous quality improvement. Perform essential physical functions such as walking, climbing stairs, stooping, and providing physical restraint when necessary. Maintain auditory and visual acuity for effective classroom management and supervision.
