Job Summary
Assist the teacher with planning, organizing, and evaluating instructional activities while developing classroom procedures and preparing necessary materials. Support students with serious emotional disabilities to increase their confidence, self-esteem, and independence, attending to their physical and personal care needs including feeding, hygiene, and mobility. Facilitate communication for students with difficulties and engage them in social activities throughout the school program. Act as a positive role model, maintain confidentiality, and participate in staff development as required by Cumberland County Schools. Provide physical restraint and assist with transfers to wheelchairs, buses, and the toilet when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 24+ college level semester hours completed
- The approved Work Keys Assessments
- Meets minimum qualifications established by the Cumberland County Board of Education
- College transcript showing a degree was earned
- College transcript showing at least 48 or more college level courses completed
- College transcript showing at least 24 or more college level courses completed
- Work Keys Assessments with passing scores in Workplace Documents (Reading) with a score of 4 or better
- Work Keys Assessments with passing scores in Business Writing with a score of 3 or better
- Work Keys Assessments with passing scores in Applied Mathematics with a score of 4 or better
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
