Job Summary
Conduct daily cleaning duties in school buildings, including stripping, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, and spray buffing. Wash windows, vacuums carpets, spot clean walls, and maintain restroom fixtures while replenishing supplies. Perform outdoor tasks such as grass cutting, edging walkways, and caring for shrubbery. Drive a school bus when called upon, maintaining routes, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, and transporting authorized students while enforcing discipline. Report damages, accidents, or undisciplined students to administration. Complete all required training and attend workshops to improve skills. Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to all traffic and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work effectively with other people
- Ability to read and write
- General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- General knowledge of school heating system operation and maintenance
- Possess physical strength sufficient to perform assigned duties
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license
- Must be able to perform medium/heavy lifting exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or to 25 pounds of force constantly to move object
- Must be able to climb ladder and be capable of traveling through needed crawlspace area
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Applicants must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested for purposes of driving a school bus
