Job Summary
Custodian I position (12 months) performing cleaning and maintenance in school buildings under direct supervision. Responsibilities include heavier cleaning tasks (stripping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, spray buffing), moving furniture and supplies, washing windows, vacuuming carpets, cleaning restrooms, replenishing supplies, and reporting damages. Requires ability to follow instructions, work with others, read/write, physical strength for lifting, climbing, and travel as needed; must obtain and maintain CDL bus license and drive a bus when called upon. Attends training and completes required activities; adheres to safety regulations and school bus operations, including maintaining bus route schedules and transporting authorized students. Background check and NC driver’s license required; CDL may be requested for driving duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must obtain and maintain CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so
- General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- General knowledge of school heating system operation and maintenance
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work effectively with other people
- Ability to read and write
- Possess physical strength sufficient to perform assigned duties
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Applicants must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested for purposes of driving a school bus
