Job Summary
College & Career Advisor at Somerville High School collaborating with the Director of College & Career Readiness and the School Counseling department to support students in postsecondary planning. Responsibilities include individual meetings with students and families, guiding college lists, assisting with college applications and essays, reviewing applications and financial aid materials, supporting scholarships and resume/interview coaching, providing career training information, helping students understand and select career programs, maintaining detailed records in Naviance, coordinating postsecondary field trips and workshops, presenting to groups, and participating in ongoing professional development to align with NACAC/ACA/ASCA standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or experience in relevant field
- Exceptional organizational skills and time management
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues
- Excellent teamwork, initiative, solution-focused mindset, professional demeanor, and positivity
- Direct experience with high school students preferred but not required
- Knowledge of college and career readiness preferred but not required
- Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole speaking ability preferred but not required
