Job Summary
Chief Strategy and Operations Officer leads district-wide strategy execution, translating educational philosophy and district goals into actionable programs. Responsible for coordinating strategic planning, cross-department collaboration, and data-informed decision making, while advising the Superintendent and acting as a liaison with School Committee, City Council, Mayor’s Office, and community stakeholders. Oversees governance and messaging, supports executive decision-making, manages capital improvement and facilities projects, and ensures alignment with district priorities, safety and crisis preparedness, and compliance with federal/state policy. Requires a master’s degree in education leadership or related field (doctoral preferred), DESE licensure, and at least five years of senior leadership experience in education or related sectors. Salary starts at $150,000 per year; position located in Somerville, MA.
Required Qualifications
- Master Degree in education leadership or related field required
- Doctoral degree in education, management, or a related field, preferred
- Massachusetts DESE supervisor licensure required
- Experience working directly with elected officials, superintendents, senior cabinet leaders, school board members, municipal management, non-profits and community representatives, strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role required
