Job Summary
Middle/High School Biology Teacher responsible for delivering California standards-aligned instruction, differentiating lessons to meet diverse learners (including English learners and students with IEPs), planning weekly lessons, and using data to inform instruction. Role requires collaboration with school leaders, participation in professional development, maintaining positive classroom environments, implementing restorative practices, and communicating with families. Bachelor's degree and a valid Single Subject California credential are required (intern credentials considered); urban teaching experience preferred and bilingual/EL authorization or CLAD/BCC is desirable. 11-month, full-time exempt position with a focus on instructional effectiveness, culture, and student success across a multi-site urban LA context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Single Subject CA credential in the applicable subject area
- Candidates with an intern credential are also considered
- Possession of either an English Learner Authorization (EL Authorization), Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate; Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) certificate; or Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC) required.
- Two years of urban teaching experience preferred
