Job Summary
Asst. Scholars Bowl Coach at Junction City High School provides students with training and development to compete at local and State Scholars Bowl levels. Responsibilities include supervising students during work nights with individual and group evaluations, assisting head coach with scheduling and conducting tournaments, organizing and hosting JCHS tournaments, ensuring students represent JCHS per student and team guidelines, verifying academic eligibility for competitions, maintaining accurate accounting of income and expenditures for the activity, arranging transportation to competitions, and performing other duties as approved by head coach/building administrators. Candidates should support regular attendance, cooperative work with others, timely information requests, meeting deadlines, and supervising student athletes in multiple settings. Physical requirements involve possible lifting of up to 50 pounds and extended hours. Term of employment runs October through March with extra pay/extra duty schedule; TB test, licensed driver, and good health are required. Reports to Head Coach; works with Building Activities/Athletic Director and Building Principal; supervision of students. Nondiscrimination notice included.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles of effective teaching
- Coaching experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of district and state activities association guidelines
- Good health & physical condition must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Current TB skin test on file
- Valid driver's license
