Job Summary
The 26/27 Assistant - K5 (90%) role supports the teacher in the K5 classroom by providing academic assistance, supervising and guiding students, preparing instructional materials, and assisting with data entry and health records. The position requires a college degree transcript, WorkKeys assessments, and the ability to obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license to drive a school bus when needed. Responsibilities include group and individualized instruction, proctoring and scoring tests, preparing visuals and materials, attending workshops, reporting attendance and student progress, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring safety and compliance with local/state regulations. Required Qualifications
- College transcript showing a degree was earned
- College transcript showing at least 48 college level courses completed (CCS)
- College transcript showing at least 24 college level courses completed (CCS) plus WorkKeys Assessment with passing scores in Workplace Documents, Business Writing, and Applied Mathematics

- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so

- JOB GOAL: To support the teacher in the teaching-learning process for students.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Academic Assistance (group instruction, individualized instruction, progress reporting)
- Instructional Preparation/Support (classroom setup, materials prep, visual aids)
- Report and Records (attendance, health data entry)
- Monitoring Student Behavior (supervision, awards, behavior guidance)
- Discipline and policy development
- Drives a bus when needed; completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintains bus route schedule
- BACKGROUND CHECK requirements
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- CDL and related licensure requirements
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for driving a school bus
