Job Summary
Provide academic assistance through group and individualized instruction, demonstrate activities, correct student work, and report progress to teachers. Prepare classroom materials, arrange furnishings, serve as a proctor during testing, and score papers as instructed. Monitor student behavior in classrooms and other locations, create awards, resolve conflicts, and enforce discipline through approved methods. Maintain bus routes, complete pre- and post-trip inspections, and drive the school bus when called upon while adhering to traffic and safety regulations. Submit attendance records, health data, and behavioral reports to comply with regulatory requirements. Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License and pass a background check.
Required Qualifications
- College transcript showing a degree was earned
- College transcript showing at least 48 or more college level courses completed
- College transcript showing at least 24 or more college level courses completed plus WorkKeys Assessment with passing scores in these three areas: (1) Workplace Documents (Reading) – score of 4 or better, (2) Business Writing – score of 3 or better, and (3) Applied Mathematics – score of 4 or better

- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested, for purposes of driving a school bus
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
