Job Summary
Provide academic assistance by giving group and individualized instruction, demonstrating activities, and correcting student work while keeping them on task. Prepare classroom materials, arrange furnishings, and serve as a proctor during testing. Monitor student behavior in classrooms and other locations, resolve conflicts, and report discipline issues to administration. Drive a school bus when called upon, completing pre- and post-trip inspections, maintaining route schedules, and transporting authorized students while adhering to traffic and safety regulations. Obtain and maintain a CDL bus license. Report attendance, enter health and behavior data, and participate in workshops.
Required Qualifications
- College transcript showing a degree was earned
- College transcript showing at least 48 or more college level courses completed
- College transcript showing at least 24 or more college level courses completed plus WorkKeys Assessment with passing scores in these three areas: (1) Workplace Documents (Reading) – score of 4 or better, (2) Business Writing – score of 3 or better, and (3) Applied Mathematics – score of 4 or better

- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested, for purposes of driving a school bus
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
