Job Summary
Provide academic assistance through group and individualized instruction, check student work, and report progress to teachers. Prepare classroom materials, serve as a proctor during testing, and monitor student behavior while promoting citizenship and resolving conflicts. Arrange and reorganize instructional equipment, record attendance and health data, and maintain discipline through approved methods. Obtain and maintain a CDL bus license, complete pre- and post-trip inspections, and drive a school bus while adhering to traffic regulations and safety standards. Check the bus interior, maintain route schedules, and transport authorized students only at designated stops.
Required Qualifications
- College transcript showing a degree was earned
- College transcript showing at least 48 or more college level courses completed
- College transcript showing at least 24 or more college level courses completed plus WorkKeys Assessment with passing scores in these three areas: (1) Workplace Documents (Reading) – score of 4 or better, (2) Business Writing – score of 3 or better, and (3) Applied Mathematics – score of 4 or better

- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested, for purposes of driving a school bus
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
