Job Summary
Gives group and individualized academic instruction, arranges classroom equipment, and monitors student behavior to maintain focus and promote positive citizenship. Checks and corrects student work, reports progress to teachers, and reconciles minor conflicts while teaching social skills. Prepares visual aids, scores papers during testing, and enters attendance and behavior data into health records. Obtains and maintains a CDL bus license, performs pre- and post-trip inspections, and drives the bus while adhering to traffic regulations and safety standards. Cleans the bus interior and maintains route schedules.
Required Qualifications
- College transcript showing a degree was earned
- College transcript showing at least 48 or more college level courses completed
- College transcript showing at least 24 or more college level courses completed plus WorkKeys Assessment with passing scores in these three areas: (1) Workplace Documents (Reading) – score of 4 or better, (2) Business Writing – score of 3 or better, and (3) Applied Mathematics – score of 4 or better

- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested, for purposes of driving a school bus
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
