Job Summary
Provide a supportive atmosphere for consumers experiencing acute mental health crises requiring stabilization under the supervision of a Coordinator or Supervisor. Deliver direct interventions and behavioral management techniques to individuals with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities in accordance with established treatment plans. Maintain a secure environment while fulfilling program activities, managing extensive documentation, and de-escalating crisis situations both individually and in group settings. Requires a high school diploma, one year of crisis experience, a valid Michigan driver's license, and reliable transportation. Schedule includes Saturday and Sunday shifts from 7pm to 7:30am with shift incentives for evening, overnight, and weekend hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 1 year of experience working with consumers experiencing mental health crisis
- Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use
- Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form
- Ability to process extensive documentation
- Ability to problem-solve crisis situations
- Ability to de-escalate behavioral health crisis
- Ability to provide crisis intervention with consumers both individually and in group meetings
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
- Michigan State Police clearance check
- Medicaid/Medicare verification
- Verification of an acceptable driving record
- Educational background check
- Verification of an acceptable work history
