Job Summary
Interfacility Transfer staff perform the safe care and transport of non-emergent patients between medical facilities within Alberta. Responsibilities include completing and submitting patient care reports, maintaining cleanliness of vehicles and equipment, ensuring transport units are stocked and operational, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care. The role includes a structured mentorship component to support onboarding and operational readiness, with a three-month probationary period for permanent full-time positions. The majority of transports involve transfers between healthcare facilities and returning patients to their original location within Alberta Health Services Zones.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Responder Course
- Active registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
- Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator’s License with a clean driving abstract (to be submitted)
- Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test within six months of start date
- Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past three month
- Up to date immunizations
