Job Summary
Provide student care, administer ordered medications, and monitor student side effects while maintaining medical documents and certifications. Perform routine first aid, evaluate illnesses, and evaluate emergencies following physician directives. Organize medications and first aid kits for field trips, order health supplies, and maintain stock. Drive a school bus when called upon, maintaining route schedules, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations. Communicate with parents, faculty, and outside agencies regarding student health and medication needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word processing, spreadsheet, and database)
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must be able to communicate effectively in oral and written form regarding health matters
- Must have finger dexterity
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Applicants must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested for purposes of driving a school bus
