Job Summary
Editorial Internship and Editorial Photography Internship at 225 Magazine in Baton Rouge, LA. Responsibilities include pitching stories for print, weekly newsletter and website; writing assigned features; securing photos or multimedia; researching, editing and fact-checking content; archiving editorials; and for photography track, photographing assignments, conceptualizing storytelling through photos, styling subjects for editorials, attending events, writing photo cutlines, and preparing metadata for production. Ideal candidates are journalism or photography students familiar with WordPress (or eager to learn), proficient in AP style, with strong interviewing and writing skills, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Paid opportunities with college credit options and weekly-hour commitments (8-10 hours for editorial; 6-12 hours for photography).
Required Qualifications
- Is a college student studying journalism or related field
- Is eager to learn about Baton Rouge’s restaurant, arts and entertainment scenes
- Is familiar with WordPress or eager to learn about it
- Possesses strong use of AP style
- Has fluid interviewing and writing skills
- Is detail oriented
- Works well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Commitment of 8-10 hours per week for Editorial Internship
- For Photography internship: Is a college student studying photography, photojournalism or related field
- Is open to constructive criticism and hoping to grow as a photographer
- Is detail-oriented and organized
- Works well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
