Job Summary
Conduct victim and witness interviews, prepare case files and evidence for court proceedings, and analyze assigned cases for trial readiness. Perform legal research, draft motions, and present cases including cross-examining witnesses and making arguments in court. Manage preliminary hearings and jury selection within the Misdemeanor Trial Bureau, with potential progression to felony units or specialty divisions based on demonstrated ability. Complete administrative tasks and additional assignments prescribed by the Chief. This 3-6 month pre-commit program serves recent law school graduates awaiting February or July 2027 Texas State Bar exam results, offering a pathway to Misdemeanor 3 ADA status and full benefits upon passing the exam.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be recent law school graduates prepping for the February 2027 or July 2027 Texas State Bar Exam
- Qualified candidates should also have an excellent academic record
- Applicants that are chosen for our pre-commit program will be sworn in and transferred into a Misdemeanor #3 ADA position
- The applicant must resign from their pre-commit position, return all assigned equipment, and badges to HCDAO HR Operations
