Job Summary
Learn from Service Technicians by handling real customer equipment repairs and adhering to dealership policies, procedures, and professional ethics. Maintain strong relationships with clients and employees while developing self-awareness of behaviors that influence the work environment. Complete work assignments thoroughly and punctually, participate in training opportunities, and perform other duties as required to ensure AVE-PLP's success. This role involves students enrolled in an Ag Diesel program who are sponsored by AVE-PLP while attending school. The position requires reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including occasional outdoor exposure and handling hazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, walk on unpaved terrain, talk, reach with arms and hands, have good manual dexterity, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel, hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, steps, and traversing catwalk grating, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and kneeling on a frequent basis and working in confined space
- Manual dexterity required to complete work tasks through safe and proper operation of power and hand tools, and motor vehicles
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to move, position, and carry loads of up to 5 pounds upstairs and loading on four-foot-high surfaces frequently
- Strenuous physical work involving heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to perform occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold)
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain
- Ability to handle occasional exposure to insects
- Ability to handle regular and long-term exposure to work areas containing toxic/caustic/hazardous/volatile chemicals
- Ability to handle extreme conditions such as hot/cold
- Ability to handle sharp hazards
- Ability to handle dust/fumes/gasses
- Ability to handle electrical shock
- Ability to handle moving mechanical parts
- Ability to handle high pitched and/or constant loud noise
- Ability to assist with sampling, calibration of equipment and process instruments calibration / maintenance in difficult areas
- Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and provided uniform
- Willingness to maintain a clean and safety-conscientious work environment
- Willingness to work long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings
- Willingness to rotate on-call responsibilities for up to a week at a time
- Enrollment in an Ag Diesel program at a technical school or community college
- Selection to be sponsored by AVE-PLP while attending school
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience and knowledge of large ag equipment or commercial/turf equipment
- One year of customer service experience
