Job Summary
Design development and preparation of construction documents, including plans, material specifications, and cost estimates. Collect and assemble data for engineering or environmental reports, while performing or reviewing calculations related to surveying, geotechnical testing, and pipe inspections. Utilize software such as AutoCAD and Civil3D for surface drainage, culvert design, and pipe flow analysis. Conduct field investigations and survey assistance to gather site-specific data, then document construction operations and maintain technical records. Assist with writing memoranda, attending meetings, and operating technical equipment under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. This internship supports Hanson's Aviation Civil Engineering discipline, focusing on airport facility development and maintenance, with opportunities for travel to suppliers and customers.
Required Qualifications
- Intern must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program
- The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their junior year
- be actively enrolled in a 4-year college or university
- coursework directly related to the position applied for
- Those students who have completed more than 60 hours of coursework applicable toward their degree
- exceptional prior experience
- Strong analytical skills
- AutoCAD/Civil3D; or GIS proficiencies
- Productive written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license
- Internships may require travel to suppliers, customers, or other Hanson locations
