Job Summary
Seasonal Rolling Stock Mechanic at Naknek, AK responsible for inspection, maintenance, and repair of facility rolling stock and equipment (including forklifts, hydraulic systems, belts, and braking components). Must live in remote Alaska for several months; transportation from Seattle/Anchorage and room and board provided. Requires 4+ years of mechanical experience on gasoline/diesel equipment, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to work up to 12-hour days, and ability to operate safely in a demanding seafood-processing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a mechanic working on both gasoline and diesel equipment
- Forklift maintenance experience, including electrical systems, strongly preferred
- Knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic motors
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and work independently
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound, independent decisions under pressure
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedures
- Ability to work long hours in a fast-paced environment, including up to 12 hours per day, seven days per week
- Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote Alaska location for several months in a seafood processing environment
- Ability to work safely in conditions that may include moving machinery, ammonia systems, wet floors, high noise levels, and forklift traffic
- Willingness to live in shared bunkhouse accommodations and work alongside a culturally diverse workforce
