Job Summary
Transmission System Planning Co-op role supporting development and analysis of electric transmission models, collecting forecasted load data, validating system parameters, and assisting in system performance studies. Responsibilities include building/maintaining transmission models, applying planning standards (NERC/NPCC/ISO-NE), performing steady-state, stability, short-circuit, and EMT analyses, and using tools such as PSSE, ASPEN, PSCAD. Contributes to study scoping, documentation, and training materials, and collaborates with senior engineers and cross-functional teams. Interns gain hands-on experience in utility planning, operations support, and reliability studies, and are paid through the Managed Service Provider Program with rate ranges starting at $20.60/hour and up to $31.35/hour depending on graduation year and technical vs. non-technical track.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- Coursework or project experience related to transmission planning, power system analysis, or electrical design
- Internship/Co-op experience or coursework demonstrating knowledge of power systems
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively
