Job Summary
Internship role supporting one or more teams in optics manufacturing with hands-on exposure to real operations. Interns participate in projects across areas such as methodology improvement, design for manufacture studies, trend identification, non-conformance analysis, measurement systems, tool design iterations, robotics testing, mechanical builds, laser power experiments, data analysis, and supplier management. The program emphasizes learning through immersion, collaboration, and opportunities to engage in networking events within the Optimax community. Applicants must be currently enrolled in relevant optics/engineering/related programs and be authorized to work in the United States; F-1 visa sponsorship is not provided. The role involves a manufacturing environment with physical demands and safety training, and offers a competitive annual salary in the listed range depending on academic standing and program of study.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in optics, engineering, industrial design engineering, materials science, mathematics, physics, and precision machining academic program
- At least 18 years of age by start date of internship assignment
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; Please note F-1 Visas are not currently sponsored by Optimax
- Ability to work in multiple functions while maintaining the flow of information
- Written and verbal communication skills - able to adjust communication to audience
- Analytical troubleshooting – determine root cause and select a best fix
- Initiative to seek out new skills and techniques
- Ability to build proper problem statements
