Job Summary
This GM 2026 Fall Intern - Research & Development role focuses on planning and executing collaborative research in materials science, metallurgical engineering, and surface science to support next-generation automotive technologies. The intern will conduct experiments, investigate root causes of premature failure in additively manufactured die inserts, perform fracture surface analysis and microstructural characterization, evaluate corrosion layers, support laboratory testing to improve fatigue life and durability, develop and execute research plans, and collaborate with peers and management to present results. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence three times per week, and requires current enrollment in a PhD program with U.S. citizenship; relocation benefits may be facilitated for selected candidates.
