Job Summary
GM Fall 2026 Internship in Research & Development focused on AI/ML for vehicle and mobility innovations. The intern will conduct research and experiments to collect data, apply AI/ML and computational methods to engineering challenges, support development of methods/models/tools/workflows to accelerate vehicle development and research outcomes, analyze large datasets to generate insights and improve prediction/automation/decision-making, collaborate with technical teams to identify opportunities for application in automotive research, document and present results (potentially leading to external publications or intellectual property), and develop/execute research plans from concept to validation. The role requires in-office hybrid participation (three days per week minimum) in Warren, MI or Mountain View, CA, starting September 7, 2026, and emphasizes collaboration with peers, management, and external customers; sponsorship for immigration is not provided.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- Must be currently enrolled in a PhD program
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or related field
- Strong foundation in AI/ML, statistical modeling, data analysis, or computational methods
- Programming experience in Python and/or other relevant languages for ML/analytics/scientific computing
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Leadership and ability to collaborate with internal/external stakeholders
