Job Summary
Temporary contract staff to shelve books and materials in the Library during NSDAR's annual convention. One-week assignment with hours: Tue 9:00am–5:00pm and Wed 10:00am–5:00pm through Sat 10:00am–5:00pm. Responsibilities include shelving, organizing, filing by titles, reading titles to file accurately, and interacting professionally with convention attendees. Requires lifting and carrying books, bending, and being on one’s feet or seated for extended periods. Location: Washington, DC. Eligibility includes 18+ with proper work permits for under-18s.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to reach, lift, carry books of various weights to and from tables, bookshelves and carts
- Must bend, move about quickly, and stand or sit for long periods
- Must be proficient in basic organization skills, and filing rules (i.e. alphabetizing, etc.)
- Must have ability to read book titles and other materials to file them accurately, and in the appropriate location
- Must be able to interact professionally with members and visitors attending the convention
- Individuals under the age of 18 MUST obtain proper work permits and adhere to strict scheduling requirements
