Job Summary

Assess, arrange, and stabilize physical archival records by creating inventories, conducting research, and rehousing materials. Digitize archival records, name, describe, and organize digital files while assisting in the creation of archival database records and collection finding aids. Focus on processing the Dr. Francis V. O'Connor Research Collection comprising artist files, manuscripts, and papers related to Jackson Pollock and the Federal Art Project. Work under the supervision of the Director of Library and Archives and Archives Fellow to support hands-on experience in physical and digital workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Academic background in library or information science, art history, or a related field
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Knowledge of Microsoft apps
  • A background check
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all non-public museum information
  • Visual acuity to review written materials
  • Physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least three feet
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • Completion of a confidentiality agreement
  • Enrollment in an accredited program or graduation from an accredited program within the past three years

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with archival databases (the museum uses ArchivEra)
  • Familiarity with digitization equipment/software
