Job Summary
As a Systems Engineer on the Strategic Analytics team, you will manage and optimize cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks) and support enterprise analytics/AI workloads. You will perform Snowflake and Databricks administration, build and maintain data pipelines, enforce security and governance (RBAC, encryption, auditing, masking, data lineage, Entra ID), tune workloads, implement disaster recovery and replication, and collaborate with data engineers, scientists, BI teams, and architects. You’ll evaluate new platform features (e.g., Snowflake Native Apps, Databricks Unity Catalog) to improve governance and automation, provide production support and incident response, and contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices. A BS in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) and 5–7+ years in data platforms or software engineering are expected, with hands-on experience across Snowflake and Databricks ecosystems, Azure data services, SQL, Python/PowerShell, data governance, security, backup/DR, and strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience (typically 5–7+ years) in data platforms, database administration, or software engineering
- Experience with Snowflake administration (warehouse management, query tuning, clustering, caching, cost governance, Time Travel, replication)
- Hands-on Databricks administration (workspaces, clusters, SQL Warehouses, jobs, policies, workload isolation)
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting with Python and/or PowerShell
- Experience with Azure data services (Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL), connectivity, authentication, monitoring
- Strong understanding of platform security (RBAC, encryption, auditing, masking, Entra ID integration)
- Experience with backup, recovery, and DR strategies including Snowflake replication and Time Travel
- Proven production support skills with ability to resolve complex cross-platform incidents
- Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platform deployments
- Solid documentation skills (SOPs, runbooks, architecture diagrams, DR plans)
- Clear communicator who works well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Awareness of AI services relevant to platform administration
