Job Summary
Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation, tutoring individuals or small groups, and conducting learning activities with both large and small groups of children. Oversee students during non-instructional times including transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips while maintaining a safe and clean environment. Communicate with the teacher to recognize student issues and recommend solutions, develop a positive rapport with students, and aid in creating and carrying out lesson plans. Collaborate on technology-related instructional programs and perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Have obtained an associate's degree (or higher)
- Have taken and passed the WorkKeys Test
- Have taken and passed the Parapro/Praxis ParaPathways Test
- Have taken and passed the Oklahoma General Education Test
- Completed 48 hours of collegiate studies at an accredited university
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up or more than 10 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to or more than 50 pounds
