Job Summary
Under direct supervision of a licensed teacher, assists in developing instructional programs by working with students individually or in small/large groups; prepares instructional materials, maintains classroom discipline, and conducts planned activities using teacher-designated methods; supports instruction for students with varying disabilities/learning needs; conducts teaching-related tasks, monitor progress, and participate in IEP goals; position requires background checks and pre-employment drug screening. The role is district-wide within NEAH-KAH-NIE School District, based in Rockaway Beach, Oregon, and emphasizes assisting teachers, classroom management, and collaboration with staff while ensuring safety and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- AA degree or be able to pass test in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics
- High School Diploma or equivalent as required by OAR 581-37-030, Oregon Department of Education
- Must be able to pass Oregon Department of Education Criminal History Background checks and pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively with students and staff
- In bilingual position, ability to fluently speak, read and write in Spanish, English or other languages as specified by administration
- Ability to manage the behavior of individuals or groups of students in instructional settings
- Possess knowledge of English usage, mathematics and basic understanding of the subjects in which this position is to provide assistance
- Ability to obtain a valid First Aid card including HIV training
Desired Qualifications
