Job Summary
Hiring English Language Arts (ELA) teachers for the 2026-2027 school year to provide world-class instruction in ELA to middle and high school students. Responsibilities include demonstrating expertise in reading, writing, and speech; using data to guide instruction; building relationships with students and parents; and contributing to a safe and welcoming learning environment. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in education or related field and previous experience with middle and high school students, while alignment with district values is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or ELA-related field (i.e. English, Creative Writing, European Literature, etc.)
- Previous experience working with middle school and high school students
- Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values
Desired Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a secondary ELA endorsement (i.e. BQ or BX preferred but possible to accept other subject specific endorsements depending on exact role)
- Previous teaching experience in an urban setting
- Training in CRPBIS and other related instructional methodologies
