Job Summary
Support the classroom teacher in instructing and supervising students ages three to five in a fully inclusive environment. Collaborate with the team to create a safe, warm, and engaging learning space while assisting with curriculum planning that addresses cognitive, social, emotional, and developmental needs. Provide hands-on support for health and safety routines, including diapering, toileting, and handwashing, while ensuring constant supervision. Maintain effective rapport with colleagues, students, and families through positive behavior management strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Have previous experience working with young children
- Be familiar with child development and early childhood education
- Establish effective rapport and positive relationships with colleagues, students, and families
- Have strong skills in positive behavior management
- Have the ability to work cooperatively in a team
- Be sensitive to the needs of children and families
- Ensure child safety and supervision at all times
- Provide support with diapering/toileting, handwashing, and all other health and safety routines
- Follow all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification and an Oregon Food Handler's card
- Have training and/or experience in early childhood education or child development
- Have technology skills
- Have collaboration and teaming skills
- Be able to employ a variety of developmentally appropriate strategies
- Must obtain enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR) upon hire
- Step 5 or higher in the Oregon Registry (ORO)
Desired Qualifications
- Consideration will be given to candidates who are fluent in Spanish
- Candidates who are bi-cultural or multi-cultural
