Job Summary
Special Education Classroom Assistant position in a self-contained developmental preschool at Jefferson Elementary School. Responsibilities include working with children with special needs in the classroom, providing individual or small-group instruction aligned to IEP objectives, preparing lesson materials, grading and correcting work, attending to personal needs of students, monitoring behavior, transporting students when required, and supporting daily classroom operations such as recording progress, decorating displays, and assisting with emergency drills. Requires ability to implement instructional activities, read aloud to small groups, facilitate inclusive activities, and collaborate with teachers and staff to support elementary to middle school age learners. Minimum education of 48 college credit hours or Parapro assessment, strong organizational skills, and effective communication with students, parents, and co-workers are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum education requirement is 48 college credit hours (semester) or passing score on the Parapro assessment
- Additional course work in elementary education, experience providing instruction to elementary school age children
- Ability to interact with students, parents, and co-workers
- Strong organizational skills or any equivalent combination of education and experience
