Job Summary
Lead the library program as a leader, teacher, and instructional partner by collaborating with administration to establish measurable goals and integrate literacy standards through coaching. Develop assignments with classroom teachers that foster critical thinking and social skills, while assessing student learning to adjust instruction for diverse needs. Manage the media center as a flexible learning environment by maintaining a culturally diverse collection, overseeing staff and volunteers, and ensuring equitable access to digital resources. Teach students inquiry processes and information literacy skills across all content areas to support curriculum implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Library Media Specialist (038)
- Must have an extensive knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles, and methodologies of teaching and learning
- Must possess the ability to develop instructional goals for students
- Must possess the ability to manage print, non-print and electronic collection of curricular support materials and equipment
- Must possess the ability to prepare and monitor departmental budget
- Must possess the ability to provide work direction to others
- Must possess the ability to collaborate with other instructional personnel
- Must possess the ability to communicate instructional goals to others effectively, orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability in decision making
- Demonstrated ability in problem analysis
- Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution
- Demonstrated ability in interpersonal relationships
- Demonstrated ability in planning
- Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and walking
- Repetitive hand movements (including simple grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation), bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching
- Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer
- Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- Speak in audible tones and hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
- Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds
