Job Summary
Library Media Specialist (LMS) at Western Heights Middle School leads a four-role library program—Leader, Teacher/Instructional Partner, Program Manager, and Information Specialist—collaborating with administration and staff to develop a curriculum-aligned library, promote literacy, manage a diverse print and non-print collection, and operate the media center as a flexible, resource-rich learning environment. Responsibilities include setting data-driven goals aligned to school improvement plans, applying information literacy standards, advocating for library services, leading professional development, partnering with classroom teachers on instruction and assignments, promoting reading through traditional and digital formats, collecting and analyzing data to improve instruction, developing and maintaining a culturally diverse collection, managing library staff and volunteers, ensuring equitable access to resources, and modeling ethical information use; requires strong knowledge of teaching and learning concepts, ability to develop instructional goals, budget management, collaboration, communication, and the Oklahoma Librarian endorsement. Education and experience include a Bachelor's Degree and Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with Library Media endorsement (038). Primary location is Western Heights Middle School, Oklahoma City, OK, with full-time benefits; salary dependent upon qualifications.
