Job Summary

Prepare and serve meals according to USDA, OSPI, and Health Department regulations while maintaining a positive school climate through professional interactions with students, staff, and co-workers. Collect payments for food items, maintain data in the Meal Time Computer System, and reconcile daily receipts and cash boxes. Oversee student identification processes, monitor inventory, and operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment. Stock salad bars, wash reusable lunch trays, and process deliveries from drivers and milkmen. Prepare accurate production reports, train substitutes for server and cashier positions, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding student benefit status. Work full shifts on feet, lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally, and adhere to all National School Lunch Programs regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit
  • Must be able to lift and carry 10 to 50 lbs. frequently
  • Must be able to assist with lifting over 75 lbs. occasionally
  • Must be able to load and unload products from vehicles of various heights from 3 to 5 feet
  • Must be able to use push and pull methods to move products around work area
  • Must be able to store products requiring arm extension, straight and overhead reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting, and turning
  • Must be able to use repetitive motions involved with food preparation and cleaning processes, including using hands and wrist repeatedly for grasping, cutting, and lifting food and equipment, and taking fully loaded trays of food in and out of commercial size ovens
  • Must be able to work from an awkward position to accomplish cleaning of equipment
  • Must be able to be on feet the majority of the work shift
  • Must be of general good health
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and interact positively with all school district staff, students and parents
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently, take initiative, recognize and adjust priorities as needed, and meet strict deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce, organize and maintain accurate records
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large sums of money in an efficient and accurate manner
  • Demonstrated high level of computer proficiency and application of technology
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to fill any position in Food Services when necessary
