Job Summary
Maintain school facilities to ensure operating excellence and present no interruptions to the educational program. Clean designated spaces, rugs, carpets, and furniture while sweeping, scrubbing, and polishing floors. Wash windows, walls, and woodwork; empty wastebaskets and transport trash. Set and take down lunch tables and arrange furniture for special events. Assist with snow removal, minor landscaping, and grounds maintenance as requested. Remove debris from driveways and loading areas, raise and lower the flag, and sort laundry. Report equipment failures immediately and request necessary supplies. Restock disposable items and provide inventory data. Assist visitors with directions and obtain equipment. Fill in for other shift absences as required by Administration. Make recommendations to improve service and ensure efficient operations. Work weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with occasional event coverage outside normal hours.
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Previous experience preferred but not required (additional pay given for verified relatable experience).
- Evening custodians are scheduled in our buildings weekdays (Monday through Friday) from 3:00pm to 11:30pm.
- In addition to their regularly scheduled shift, all custodians may be asked to work events (usually held during evening or weekend hours) for any building in the District outside of their normal working hours.
- Mandatory overtime is not required but overtime is available and will occasionally be asked of all custodians.
