Job Summary
Dean of College and Career to lead Achievement First’s college counseling program in CT, guiding college search and matriculation for underserved students.Responsibilities include managing college staff and budgets, executing efficient college-admission processes, providing one-on-one counseling to seniors, coordinating college representative visits, building college partnerships, overseeing alumni programming and summer opportunities, managing the Foundations of Leadership curriculum, and leveraging Naviance data to improve college outcomes. Requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), at least 3 years of teaching experience, experience leading adults, and commitment to obtaining state certification if needed. Strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills; ability to work autonomously and collaborate with leadership; familiarity with East Coast/national colleges and supporting first-generation, low-income students; proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Naviance; Spanish language proficiency a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (education or related field)
- At least 3 years of teaching experience with a track record of high student achievement
- Experience leading and managing adults
- If not currently certified, obtaining necessary state certification within the first two months of employment
- Experience in college advising and helping low-income, first-generation students and their families through admissions and financial aid processes
- Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills
- Ability to build partnerships with colleges/universities, coordinate visits, and manage programmatic initiatives
- Familiarity with Naviance, data tracking, and school-wide college-going strategies
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
