Job Summary
Administer assessments, advise parents on student progress, and counsel students on performance and personal issues. Instruct students through a defined course of study while managing behavior and monitoring safety across all educational environments. Prepare written materials including grades, lesson plans, and correspondence to document student progress. Direct teacher assistants and student workers to support the classroom program. Report incidents and respond to emergency situations to ensure student safety. Collaborate with instructional staff and community resources to improve student outcomes. Demonstrate technology integration in curriculum and participate in professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- endorsement in the grade/subject taught
- valid Tennessee certificate
- highly qualified
- physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position
- ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data
- ability to provide guidance, effective supervision, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations
- ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions
- ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information
- ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- ability to calculate decimals and percentages
- ability to utilize principles of fractions
- ability to interpret graphs
- ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures
- ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
- ability to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives
- ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria and the goals and priorities of planning and development programs
