Job Summary
Assist in implementing classroom programs for students with disabilities in a special education setting. Support self-help activities, behavior management, and instructional programs. Provide supervision and support for students with serious emotional/behavioral problems or cognitive impairments. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher. Requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain, and SAMA certification (or ability to obtain after hire). Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions are needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate or willing to obtain certificate
- SAMA certification (or able to obtain after hire)
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- One year experience working with children preferred
