Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements while accommodating individual student differences. Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and utilize formal or informal assessments to plan targeted instructional activities. Work cooperatively with classroom teachers and special education staff to design intervention lessons and modify curricula based on Individual Education Plans. Provide appropriate learning experiences in the assigned core academic subject area to support students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Submit written evidence of lesson preparation as required. This role is available on an as-needed basis, with days varying based on campus needs determined by the principal. Applicants must attend the LPISD orientation meeting prior to beginning tutoring and submit a completed certified substitute application with three current references.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate or permit with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Applicants must attend the LPISD orientation meeting prior to beginning tutoring
