Job Summary
Lead Special Education Resource/Inclusion instruction by developing and implementing differentiated curriculum plans that accommodate individual student differences. Collaborate with parents, students, and staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through ARD Committee meetings, while monitoring progress and adjusting strategies to address specific needs. Manage classroom environments and student behavior using purposeful discipline techniques, and supervise teacher assistants or volunteers as assigned. Provide personal care, medical care, and feeding support for students as required by their IEPs, and maintain open communication with families and community members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university
- Valid teaching certificate for subject/grade level assigned
- Special Education certified
- Eligible for the appropriate Probationary Certificate through the TEA approved Teacher Certification Program
- Student teaching or approved internship or approved Alternative Teacher Certification Program training
- Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
- Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process
- Knowledge of Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to work well with a diverse population
- Regular attendance
