Job Summary
Teach Kindergarten at Heflin Elementary; develop and implement lesson plans aligned to the TEA and district curricula; use instructional strategies and materials to address diverse learners; collaborate with special education staff and LPAC/ARD committees; assess student progress, administer/state assessments, and maintain records; maintain an engaging classroom environment, manage behavior, communicate with parents and administrators, and participate in professional development; position is a 187-day probationary contract with a starting minimum salary of $66,500 (base $64,100 + $2,400 TRA) per year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
- Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
- Completion of student teaching or approved internship
