Job Summary

Assist teachers with planning, organizing, and evaluating instructional activities while developing classroom procedures and preparing necessary materials. Provide one-on-one academic and behavioral support, monitor student safety and well-being, and maintain classroom discipline. Conduct short sessions on study skills, reinforce instructions, and maintain standardized records including grading papers, checking attendance, and filing incident reports. Perform general housekeeping, clerical duties, and maintain audiovisual equipment and classroom displays. Operate office machines and participate in staff development workshops. This temporary part-time role involves 15 hours per week and reports to a Principal.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 48 semester hours
  • High school diploma and Associates degree or higher
  • High school diploma and at least silver score on Workkeys
  • General knowledge of daily routines of the classroom
  • General knowledge of student handbook rules
  • General knowledge of procedures to follow in the event of an emergency
  • General knowledge of the principles of organization and administration
  • Some knowledge of the curriculum for the grade
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students, particularly when student is participating in an inclusive activity
  • Ability to motivate students
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • Ability to perform general clerical duties
  • Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom
  • Ability to operate common office machines
  • Ability to maintain basic files and records
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
  • Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment for children with special needs
  • Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work
