Job Summary

Special Education Administrative Specialist responsible for assisting in organization, management, leadership, and monitoring of the Educational Development Center at GMCS. Responsibilities include coordinating and evaluating Special Education programming (IEPs), ensuring compliance with IDEA/ESEA, collaborating with administrators and specialists, supporting system-wide planning and staff development, assisting with budgetary components, preparing state and federal reports, and serving as liaison between regular and special education programs. Requires Master’s degree in education or counseling, Level III Instructional Leader License (within 90 days of hire), and five+ years of Special Education teaching experience. Salary set on Administrator Salary Schedule; contract length 236 days; 7.5-hour days.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an educational or counseling field
  • Level III Instructional Leader License (required within 90 days of hire)
  • Five or more years of successful teaching experience in a Special Education program
  • Preferred: Master's or terminal degree in Special Education
  • Preferred: New Mexico K-12 Administrator license
  • Direct experience supervising and evaluating Special Education teachers and staff
  • Direct experience in facilitating administrative staff to ensure IDEA and Special Education compliance
  • Physical requirements and ability to perform job duties; driving long distances in a school vehicle
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA and ESEA requirements
  • Experience with budgetary and operational components of Special Education program
  • Experience with staff development and professional growth planning
  • Strong communication, organizational and compliance skills
  • Ability to develop administrative procedures and state/federal reports
  • Exposure to system-wide planning and school improvement processes
  • Proficiency with educational technology and multimedia equipment
  • Transcripts or evaluations from accredited institutions for review
