Job Summary
Designs and delivers rigorous, inquiry-based electives lessons that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving for young women; develops cohesive unit and lesson plans aligned with GGA’s curriculum standards; uses student performance data to differentiate instruction and tailor challenges; creates formative and summative assessments to measure mastery of electives concepts; integrates interdisciplinary connections and real-world contexts; encourages project-based learning, collaboration, and leadership; incorporates culturally responsive teaching; maintains regular communication with parents and caregivers; provides advisory group guidance, consistent deadlines for weekly grades and quarterly evaluations; participates in weekly professional development and school initiatives; supports hallways, arrival/dismissal duties, and Student Led Conferences; upholds the school pillars of sisterhood, scholarship, service and safety and contributes to a startup school culture in Washington, DC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in content area
- Master’s degree preferred
- Secondary classroom experience in an urban context (three years preferred)
- Solid and demonstrable teaching experience
- Ability to write a cohesive lesson plan
- Exhibits ability to collaboratively work within and across disciplines with a diverse instructional team
- Demonstrates ability to work with parents and community
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, classroom management, and adaptive teaching
- Lead extra-curricular activities during and/or after school
- Receive and incorporate feedback from team leaders, executive leadership and peers
- Growth minded, receiving and incorporating feedback from team leaders, executive leadership and peers
Desired Qualifications
