Job Summary
Engage students in instructional activities, reinforce learning of materials, and assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans. Administer and score diagnostic tests, collect IEP data, and maintain accurate documentation of all billable activities. Perform personal hygiene functions, medically related services, and physical/behavioral management procedures as assigned per student needs. Operate classroom equipment, read to students, and supervise learners during transitions and assemblies. Catalogue instructional materials, manage inventory, and support the special education classroom with clerical duties. Maintain confidentiality, follow safety protocols, and participate in assigned training. Schedule includes 187 calendar days with a salary range of $27,683 to $35,140 based on service years.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Eligible for appropriate paraprofessional certification
- Demonstrate interest in and aptitude for work to be performed
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task activities
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
- Demonstrate and maintain competence in delivering PCS in accordance with IEP requirements
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds)
- May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-50 pounds)
- May work prolonged or irregular hours
- Frequent district wide travel
