Job Summary
Adapt classroom activities and materials under the direction of supervising teachers to support and reinforce instructional objectives. Administer tests, homework, and make-up work while assisting medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene needs. Monitor students in various school environments including restrooms, playgrounds, and cafeterias to maintain a safe and positive learning atmosphere. Implement behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders and provide instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and daily living activities. Communicate with instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives. Maintain instructional files and records to facilitate instruction and meet mandated requirements. Attend in-service presentations on first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college hours)
- Have an associates or bachelors degree
- Demonstrate knowledge through formal assessment, (e.g. ParaPro Assessment (former assessment) or The Paraeducator Learning Network Assessment (current assessment) within one year from date of hire
- Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations (after employment offer is made)
